The Lagos State Police state command has found the 22- months-old girl Mayowa Aweda and 14 years old housemaid under the bridge at Oshodi around 02:00am, some hours after the housemaid abducted the Baby at Unity Estate Idimu.
The 14 years old housemaid known as Christianah, from Iseyin, in Oyo state, was taken by the Aweda family to work for them while attending local school. Christianah said, she was told by a young man known to her as Matthew to bring the the 22-months-old baby.
According to Christianah's statement, she said the man Matthew took her and the baby in a motor cyle and droped them off at Oshodi where he asked them to sleep till the following morning. "He told me that we would be moving early in the morning," the girls told the police.
Christianah left the Aweda's family home around 7pm with the 22-months old little girl and disapeared, this prompted the family to launch a search for the duo.
According to Mr Leo Aweda the little girl's father said when the police from Bolade-Oshodi division saw the duo under the bridge, Christianah told the police both of them were sisters and had nowhere to go.
"Christianah told the police she did not understand Yoruba whereas she's from Iseyin in Oyo state. The police thought they were dealing with a case of abandoned children," he said.
While in police custody Christianah had a change of mind and told the police they were from Unity Estate, Egbeda, when police took her to locate the place she took the police officers to two different schools who denied knowing her.
The Aweda said, Christianah delibrately avoided the school where they put her, which is also the school that the 22 - months old little Mayowa attended. It was while the police officers where following her around for about three hours that some neigbours spotted them.
"We were immidiately notified by neigbours, and we followed them back to the police station. That was where she told us that one Matthew took them on a motorcyle from Egbeda to Oshodi."
"Some people told us that she might have been hypnotised by people who wanted to abduct our child. When she left home with my daughter, she did not pack any of her things we bought for her except a rechargeable lamp. While we were searching for her, someone spotted her around 9pm somewhere with our girl. The person said she had N500 with her out of which she bought sausage for my daughter."
The Aweda asked police to release Christianah to her family.
" We decided to put her in the same school as my child and even spent N5000 every month on her mother. After we released her to her family, her mother has appologised to us and that the girl had admitted to everything. She said it was the devil that used her." Aweda said.
Mr Aweda and his family thank the police, their neigbours and the members of public who help in the search of the missing girls.
