27-year-0ld man on trial for defiling six-year-old boy

Yusuf Adam, 27 -year-old trader, was on Thursday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates' Court for sexually assaulting a six-year-old boy.

Yusuf Adam, a resident at Alakuko area of Lagos, is being tried for sexual assualt, which he pleaded not guilty.  The Prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, told the court that the offence was committed on Feb. 10 at an uncompleted building located ata Area 1 Estate, Alakuko, Lagos.

Donny said that the accused lured the victim, a six -year-old to the building under the pretence of sending him on an errand.

"The accused sexually assaulted that boy by penetrating through his anus," he said.

Donny also said that the accused and the victim stay on the same street.  He said the offence contravened Section 135(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Davis Abegunde, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.  She adjourned the case till March 8.
