Senator Musiliu Obanikoro returned N30m to EFCC

Senator Musiliu Obanikoro the former minister of State Defence has returned the sum total of N30m Naira to the Economic and financial crime commission (EFCC) and promised to pay the balance of N417m.

To date Senator Obanikoro has returned the total of N167m to the federal government.

A source said “ I can confirmed that  Senator Obanikoro has been meeting up his part of the agreement."

You will remember that last year the senator promised to be paying some certain amount of money quarterly which he fulfilled.

He said the Senator has made his first instalment of N30m in 2017 and also reporting to the EFCC as he should.
The former minister who returned from
United State in October 2016, after spending over 14 months, was said to have received the sum total of N4.7bn from  the office of the Nation Security Adviser under the leadership of Col. Sambo Dasuki (Retd).

Senator Obanikoro had said in his instalment agreement at the EFCC that he received the said money and he gave N1.219bn to support the then PDP governorship candidate for Ekiti State Mr Ayodele Fayose and N1.3bn to PDP governorship candidate senator Iyiola Omisore of Osun state.

Senator Obanikoro also confessed of giving the sum total of $5.377m dollars at Spotless hotel Ekiti in the presence of the PDP secretary Mr Tope Aluko.

The Senator was said to have kept the sum of N785m for himself.  However the EFCC asked him to return the sum of N584m out of which he has returned N167m to date.
